Inside Polo

FINALLY!
By Ron Allen

For the first time ever it was La Dolfina on the winners podium at Tortugas. Ellerstina was looking for their seventh consecutive title but went down in defeat in a hard fought battle: 16 to 14.

Ellerstina jumped out to a 2-0 lead but got behind after 3 consecutive penalty shots for La Dolfina. The third chukker saw La Dolfina outscore Ellerstina 3-0 to take an 8 to 6 lead. In a high scoring affair the game was tied at 10 all in the 5th and again at 11 all. Trading goals continued as the match was tied at 13 all going into the final chukker. La Dolfina outscored Ellerstina 2 to 1 in the 7th to take the title in a very exciting match.

Well-deserved MVP honors went to Adolfo Cambiaso and his B12 horse was Best Playing Pony. The first stage of the Triple Crown belongs to the boys from Canuelas. Their new coach, Milo Fernandez Araujo, may be an all-important 5th man in this critical turn around for a very competitive 39-goal La Dolfina team.
